Evelyn Kuwertz
Biographical Date
Born in Austria, the German painter Evelyn Kuwertz studied at the University of the Arts, Berlin. She lives and works in Berlin and, since 2000, also in southwest France. Her works are held in public and private collections in Germany and France. Exhibitions have been devoted to her work since 1980, in Germany and abroad.
Evelyn Kuwertz was engaged in the 70‘s and 80‘s with the equal esteem and perception of women artits.
1973 During her study she formed the feminist Exhibition – SITUATION OF THE WOMEN IN FAMILY AND SOCIETY-. A teamwork an environment should be exposed in Berlin, it was forbitten by the senator for education Gerd Löffler, justified for morality reasens.
She took the initiative and was co-organisator of both expositions of women in the arts:
- 1977 WOMEN ARTISTS INTERNATIONAL 1877-1977, exposed in the Orangerie, castle Charlottenburg Berlin and Frankfurter Kunstverein Frankfurt.
- 1986-87 THE HIDDEN MUSEUM exposed in the Akademie of Arts Berlin and castle Oberhausen.
Founding association -DAS VERBORGENE MUSEUM- with the intention to research and exposing the art of women. - 1981-1991 temporary lecturer at the University of arts, Berlin
- 1991 Visiting Professor at the University of arts, Berlin
